Trips to Bahamas will result in a liflong love affair with one of the most tranquil destinations you could ever visit. Bahamas are also famous for their corals barrier, being the third largest one in the world, and are a popular port of call for cruise ships plying the Caribbean. The Bahamas is diverse chain of Islands that can be explored over a lifetime and although the size of the islands is traditionally estimated by its land mass (about 5,400 square miles, including many tiny, uninhabited rocks and isles), these islands extend over a marine territory of about 100,000 square miles–almost twice the size of Spain and substantially larger than Great Britain. Most people come to The Bahamas for its phenomenally clear waters and its abundant and varied marine life. While the islands are not lush, their flora is distinctive, colorful, and varied.

With over 700 islands and 2,400 cays, tript to Bahamas offer an overwhelming variety of historical, cultural, and natural attractions. The best way to go around the larger islands (Grand Bahama, Grand Exuma, Andros, etc) is to hire a car. The islands are of coral formation, thus differing completely in their geological structure from the other West India Islands as well as from the adjacent mainland of Florida. During the seventeenth century the islands were the rendezvous of the famous buccaneers. Travelers who are feeling lucky may want to try their hands at the Bahamas’ glitzy casinos. Travellers cheques can be changed at all banks, although those in US Dollars receive the best rates. Traveling to the Bahamas in the off season will not only save you money, but quite possibly a lot of inconvenience. If you want to lay back and relax, try a nice secluded beach, but be cautious on deserted areas of beaches at all hours. Long Island is an uninterrupted 80-mile stretch of contrasting coastline with soft beaches on the west coast and rocky cliffs on the east. Some of the smaller, more remote islands like San Salvador service guests who want to escape the modern world and spend some quiet time on a beautiful beach. Beach lovers are mesmerized by the soft, white sand and aqua blue waters of Nassau, Paradise Island. Think of warm, aqua blue waters, coral reefs, gentle breezes, and white sand beaches that stretch on seemingly forever.

The lack of fertile cropland prompted the islanders to become a nation of seafarers, and Bahamians used these skills to great advantage during the days of shipwrecking, gun running, and prohibition. The Black Bahamians’ roots go back just as far, as evidenced by the many who took the name “Rolle,” after Lord Rolle, a wealthy and much-loved planter in Exuma who, after emancipation, gave his land to his former slaves. Religion is an integral part of Bahamian life. African rhythms, Caribbean Calypso, English folk songs and the uniquely Bahamian Goombay beat echo in the air. The laid-back attitude of Bahamians is often misunderstood by those unaware that it evolves from years of a good life in a land where nature provides every need. From the multi-coloured seascapes and pristine sand beaches, to the exotic flora and vegetation, trips to Bahamas has it all.

Obviuosly there are several ways to get great airfare to the Bahamas, but I recently used a book from a travel agent who claims he was fired and is offering what he knows about getting great affair as “revenge” for firing him. I think that’s all a bit of sales pitch but the information about his book was enough to get me to take out my wallet; I’m a sucker for a good sales pitch. I have traveled exstensively and my wife was a corporate travel agent for several years, and we both learned new ways to cut travel costs, plus a few more tidbits of information.
